Up at 5am today and off to Bulgaria, I think the last time I was here was with Metallica in 1998. I always remember the mountains around Sofia. Quite a long flight I forget it's above Greece.
I'm Photographing Chris Cornell who is playing Plovdiv a Roman Coliseum two hours outside of the city. Drive there with Chris early evening, by the time we get there it's getting dark it still looks impressive. Strange to shoot the stage is low on the arena floor as if Cornell is being fed to the lions-the crowd starts about seven feet above him. Towards the end I climbed to the mixing desk way at the top, it sounded amazing real acoustics even in the rain... interesting to photograph sort of hard, I was trying to get the background in to show where we are.
