South America with Kiss plus Deep Purple and the Scorpions I went to shows in Bogota - Brasilia - Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo.
The part that’s slightly surreal is I’m getting to know all these cities. Particularly Bogota and Sao Paulo which is vast like Tokyo except it has some dangerous areas. The main train station built by the British one side seems like you are in Waterloo or St Pancras then you come out the other side and its hookers, pimp’s, meth heads, junkies with graffiti everywhere.
Seeing Deep Purple was strange, I first saw them in 1972 at the Rainbow and Brixton (The Sundown) on the Machine Head Tour and what do they open the show with now Highway Star and Pictures of Home and close with Hush and Black Night, it was my teenage years all over again. I even showed Roger Glover (bassist) my Deep Purple record collection on my phone he was kind and feigned interest. The next day I was thinking how sad I am for doing that.
Bogota to Brasília we flew for six hours along the Amazon and you start getting an idea of how vast South America is, the hotel was called the B Hotel and was white in fact the whole city seems white a bit like being in 2001 A Space Odyssey .One night with Kiss we arrived so late and hungry with nothing open but McDonalds we sat on the roof looking over the city dining on them.
Will be funny not being with KISS so nice and easy to be around.
