Los Angeles - Metallica, it’s turning into a Christmas tradition photographing them at this time of year. Strange we sort of circle each other ( well the drummer and I do ) then it feels like I’ve been there for ages. I sort of slot back in like a missing piece of Lego, then I tend to get dropped as it’s put away for awhile . Saying that I still do enjoy working with them . The drummer and I have an odd dynamic we’ve known each other the longest but have the least to do with each other I suppose we move in different circles. When we do connect we fit well like a finished Lego set in a shop window. His opening words were ‘How are you happy to be here’….me ‘Wonderful there is nothing better in my life’. We both laughed that about sums us up.
Lars did pick Killing Me by UFO from The Wild The Willing And The Innocent, to play a good choice apart from the fact maybe only Lars -Steve Harris-Kirk and I would know it. Saint Vincent did an excellent Nothing Else Matters - Jimmy Kimmel and Robert Downey Jr compared and it was all for a good cause. Personally I’d have like to see Saint Vincent do say The Four Horsemen or Whiplash. Maybe next year.
